Just saying.....why not do your research?

Quite recently, I've been hearing a lot of people say that the God that stands by and watch people die is not the God they signed up for.

Now, that leaves me really puzzled. "So what God did you sign up for?" I ask. And here comes the amazing reply I always get each time...." The God who wants me to be happy and successful and have a painless life since Jesus had done all the sufferings in our stead".

Truth be told, I quite understand that logic. I think I must have shared the same thoughts most of my life. So, in a way, I get the thought.

I once read a book about a man who shared the same thoughts. This man had even gone far in theology and was well known. He got to a breaking point where nothing made sense and he became an atheist altogether.

I guess my real question....or the question that turned me around was this....where did I get that picture (the ideas stuck in my head) of God from? Was it really from the scriptures? Or from my ideas of what a superhero is like? How is that so different from the Israelites who were waiting for a Mesaiah riding on chariots and ready to fight and deliver them from their enemies? Who could have thought of the lowly guy born of a carpenter father? He certainly does have a way of outshining the wise men of this world. He has a way of making a grand point with an ordinary entrance.

We can stand and question him all we want about his ways but if we are true and look deeper, we will see it written and even lived out on the pages of the old book. He does allow sufferings because without it, there are certain aspects of our lives that remain dormant and unwrought by him. Without pain, the pearl remains undiscovered.

Would we rather defend a Christianity I've conjured up (whether in dreams, in wrong teachings) or do my research from these books to know the God behind the Christianity itself?

I leave us all with these questions....

Who would you trust? A person who had never stolen before but has never had the opportunity of being in a place where things can be taken (and no one will quickly take notice), or the one who had stolen and has seen the vanity of it all?

Or who would you rather entrust with your riches....a new bank with zero experience, or one who has bagged experiences in a lot of highs and lows and is still standing?
